Who Are We?
We are Sea Shepherd. We are a marine conservation group that is dedicated to saving our friends and loved ones that reside in the depths of the ocean blue. We are humans from every corner of the planet who are dedicated to keeping our ecosystem intact, and saving lives no matter if they are human or animal.

We are a direct-action organisations. What does this mean? Essentially, it means unlike certain other environmental and conservation organisations, we do not let politics hold up our efforts to make change. The word most label us with is “vigilantism.” And we’re alright with that. If being a vigilante means being an organisation that measures their successes by the number of lives saved every single day during a campaign, then so be it. If you’re curious how we do this, go here for some info on our Mandate.

Remember this: WE ARE A NONVIOLENT DIRECT-ACTION GROUP. We have a deep respect for life, and that includes human life as well. We never injure anyone we campaign against, even though our opponents are openly violent and hostile toward us. Our methods used include harmless stink bombs, sit-ins, community outreach, sharing of information to the international public, and placing our bodies in the path of the marine life poachers seek to kill. These methods are surprisingly effective.

We are also a nonprofit, volunteer organisation. Nobody helps us out except for our friends, family, and loyal supporters. If you would like to donate to Sea Shepherd, feel free to drop by. Every dollar counts, because every dollar feeds the movement. You can measure the success of your donation in the amount of marine lives saved by our intervention.

Sea Shepherd is also entirely volunteer. We’re not some creepy corporate entity - just some ragtag misfits who like to troll some silly whalers/poachers. Our shipping crews are entirely volunteer, from the helicopter pilots to the vegan cooks, and that doesn’t even speak toward our on-shore teams. Being a fan of Sea Shepherd - even if you’re just reblogging, retweeting, and spreading the word - helps us. Though like we said, donations are still nice. Speaking of supporters, we hang out with some cool people: His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Michelle Rodriguez, Bob Barker (who bought us a ship!), and Christian Bale just to name a few.

And that brings us to this Tumblr! Now, “we” are just a few loyal supporters ourselves. It goes to be said that we don’t speak as Sea Shepherd legally. But we think they rock, so we’re going to support them. Follow the page, reblog our stuff, and spread the word. Killing lies with truth is the best way to advocate change and spread awareness. The more you reblog from us and fill up your Tumblog with Sea Shepherd stuff, the more people that Sea Shepherd stuff. The more people aware of us, the more friends we’re likely to make!
If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in our ask box. If you have anything you’d like to submit, there’s a submit box too! And again, donations are nice if you have cash to spare. Otherwise, sail on fair Shepherds!
